The school exists to provide strong spiritual values to young children and to give them an opportunity to blossom into their natural mood of loving devotion to the Lord. Through a well-designed curriculum that balances learning and play, the children get to experience the richness and fullness of the Vedic Culture. The children learn the Science of God in many joyful and simple ways - chanting, hearing (the endless heroic pastimes of the Lord), and dancing. At the Sunday school, we believe that all children are blessed with natural inherent talents, which are uncovered when engaged in the service of the Lord.

www.iskconchicago.com

Dolls of Devotion

by Rukmini Devi Dasi

With these dolls I am trying to bring a bit of Vedic culture to the West. We give them everything they need to succeed as good citizens of the world – food, shelter, medical care, a full education and the loving embrace of caring mothers.

Our children are victims of the civil war, poverty and the tsunami of 2004. However, at Gokulam, these traumatized children find solace in the awareness that they have a new and genuinely caring family.

There are eight caretakers, eight teachers, and two cooks employed at Gokulam. The staff provides all the care and attention each child needs, thus becoming their new family. According to Nandarani Devi, the founder of the Home, “Whatever the children have lost before, they can find it here.”

Gokulam is affiliated with Food for Life Global, which is constantly engaged in humanitarian work around the world and is based in Washington, D.C.

www.gokulam.org

Bhaktivedanta International School

Ideally we are concerned with offering educational opportunities to those great souls in little bodies who can realize prema, pure love for Krishna, in their present birth.

The progressive stages of this education are based on the general guide of Prabhupada´s Nectar of Devotion. However, currently, we expect most of our students to be developing devotees who can use training in devotional techniques such as japa, kirtana, devotional music, worship of the deity and regular home and ashrama practices of bhakti yoga, but who will also need practical training in careers for their household life such as work the movie industry, travel and tour industry, printing industry etc.

Therefore we are offering a curriculum that is devotional, philosophical and practical, with hands-on experience with modern technology. The school and curriculum, with regular daily classes from 9AM to 1PM, Kindergarten to Sixth Grade, are fully accredited by the government of Peru so students can transfer with full credit to any Peruvian or compatible school system.

The curriculum also includes a strong program in dance, theater and communication skills, as well as many regular special events and travel. Students are trained in strong, healthy character development.

Bhaktivedanta International School
Español: Colegio Bhaktivedanta Internacional CBI
Galería de fotos

Colouring Krishna and demigods

Gallery

The Illustrated Story of Krishna

Krishnapage

ISKCON competitions for school children

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON) will conduct fancy dress and quiz competitions on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations for children tomorrow. Any five-year-old child can be trained, and within a very short time his life will become successful by realization of Krsna consciousness. Unfortunately, this training is lacking all over the world. It is necessary for the leaders of the Krsna consciousness movement to start educational institutions in different parts of the world to train children, starting at the age of five years. Thus such children will not become hippies or spoiled children of society; rather, they can all become devotees of the Lord. The face of the world will then change automatically.

Due the the current interest in the ISKCON Gurukul [boarding school] system we have presented an unbiased collection of Srila Prabhupada's quotes on the Gurukul System. 108 quotes are provided below.

www.hknet.org.nz

Srila Prabhupada on Gurukul

The children should be trained in early rising, attending mangal arati, some elementary education: arithmetic, alphabet, some of our books, like that.
